When it comes to selecting a community and neighborhood for you and your family, it's important to be mindful of your needs and get to know a little bit about each area. Luckily, I've done the research for you and am happy to be your virtual tour guide around Camden County and Charlton County.

Towns

Kingsland

Kingsland is in southwestern part of Camden County, just north of the Florida line and bordered by St. Marys to the east. Interstate 95 runs through the eastern part of the city, with access from three exits. Kingsland was platted in the 1894 when the railroad was extended to that point, and named after William Henry King, the original owner of the site. This historic town features a lovely downtown district with charming homes and neighborhoods.

Woodbine

Though it's the smallest of all the towns in the area, Woodbine is the county seat of Camden County. The courthouse sits in the center of its quaint little town square. The city is situated near the center of the county and is located on the south bank of the Satilla River. Highway 17 passes through this small town and historic homes line the streets and along the river. Woodbine was created when the state constitution was adopted in 1777.

St. Marys

St. Marys is located on the southern border of Camden County on the St. Marys River, with the Florida border just to the south across the river, Cumberland Island National Seashore to the northeast and Kingsland, Georgia to the west. The St. Marys area was first explored in the mid 16th century as part of the settlement of Spanish Florida, with nearby St. Augustine as the established capital. Local inhabitants of Camden County gathered on Cumberland Island and signed a charter for "a town on the St. Marys" on November 20, 1787. The historic downtown district features beautiful homes that overlook the St. Marys River, plus excellent dining experiences for the whole family.

Folkston

Folkston is located in Charlton County, just west of Kingland and north of the Florida border. This charming town is home to one of nature's greatest wonders, the Okefenokee Swamp. With the St. Marys River as the dividing marker Florida, it's perfect for riding your boat up to the closest sandbar and setting foot in two states. Railroad enthusiasts love the frequent trains that pass through town, which happen to be the only frequent traffic. Folkston's hidden treasures are many, with tons of open land for outdoor enthusiasts and charming homes that fit every demographic.
